Becks Transfer
Well the David Beckham move to the MLS has finally happened! Beckham has agreed on a move to the Los Angeles Galaxy at the end of the season. He is set to earn a record $320.4 million $AU from the deal which includes his salary and sponsorship deals.

I think Beckham did well not to extend his contract at Real Madrid and instead join the LA Galaxy especially after what the Real officials have reportedly said about him. You bring a good point about the comparison between the MLS and the A-League and I think its good that one of the 'minor' leagues is going to get a major player in their ranks and that helps a lot especially in worldwide coverage.
I like the fact that Becks did not for example join Inter or Lyon in the name of joining a big team and languish on the bench again but he has joined a team where he will be appreciated and play regularly which I think is what to every serious footballer. I am not surprised by the report in The Mirror in the UK suggesting that Dwight Yorke is interested in re-joining Sydney FC - Sunderland have reduced him to a fringe player there.
I hope other 'big name' players will follow Beckham and join leagues like the MLS and A-League and help raise profile of football in those countries. Whether the A-League teams will afford those marquee players is something else.
